Health and Safety Manager
Employer location:
Tyne and Wear, Newcastle upon Tyne, England.
Salary:
Up to £400 per day (inside IR35).
Closing date: 16 August 2024.
We have been engaged by a well‑established chemical manufacturing company to secure a Health and Safety Manager to support key projects across the HSE function. The role will report to the Head of Health and Safety.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee key new construction projects across the site to completion.
- Monitor key performance indicators across projects, identifying areas for improvement and providing solutions to ensure best practice.
- Provide support to project teams and manage contractors on compliance requirements, site visits, and oversight of 3rd parties for SHE delivery.
- Provide ad‑hoc support for safety audits, in line with audit plan and associated protocols, coaching others in audit good practice.
- Lead and deliver SHEQ improvement activity by supporting the SHEQ Manager and wider department through agreed improvement activities.
Qualifications and experience:
- Experience with in construction health and safety, heavy lifting and demolitions.
- Experience with in COMAH or high-hazard industry.
- Proactive and self‑motivated approach.
- Ideally a NEBOSH, NVQ 5, or NCRQ diploma (or equivalent).
- Membership of IOSH (Graduate or Chartered).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels of the organisation.
