We are seeking a School Attendance Manager to lead the development and implementation of strategies that improve attendance, reduce persistent absence, and promote pupil welfare. This is a key leadership role within our pastoral structure, working closely with the Senior Leadership Team and managing the Attendance Team.

Typical duties within this post will encompass working with a caseload of students where the major area of concern is absence from school.

• Leading and managing the Attendance Team, ensuring high standards and effective systems
• Developing and managing whole-school policies and practices to improve attendance and welfare
• Overseeing complex cases of persistent absence and coordinating multi-agency support
• Acting as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) and contributing to safeguarding processes
• Producing detailed attendance reports and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements
• Building strong relationships with families and external agencies to support pupil wellbeing

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proven experience in attendance and welfare leadership within a school or similar setting
• Strong understanding of safeguarding and statutory attendance duties
• Ability to lead and motivate a team
• Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusive practice
• Experience of managing a team of colleagues
• Someone with experience of working with young people.
• Someone who can demonstrate a good understanding of issues faced by students and families.
• A sympathetic understanding of broad needs of secondary aged students.
• Attention to detail.
• An effective team player.
