We are seeking a dedicated Cleaning Operative to join our team at HMP Swaleside, a Category B male prison. We work Monday to Friday as a supportive and driven family, creating a safe and nurturing environment.

HMP Swaleside runs like a self‑contained city; as the Facilities Maintenance Team we are committed to the smooth and safe operation, impacting every prisoner, employee, visitor, and the wider community.

As a Cleaning Operative you will work alongside experienced colleagues such as plumbers, electricians, carpenters, painters, administrators, and others who are dedicated to creating a positive difference and providing a safe and secure environment for all.

We are a Ministry of Justice business providing critical and time‑bound services to HMPPS, and are looking for a Cleaning Operative with a combination of:

• Experience of working within a cleaning environment
• Knowledge of COSHH
• Knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements
• Excellent organisational, time management and people skills

Future plans: GFSL has been notified by its shareholder (MOJ) that the provision of FM Services will in future be delivered by the private sector. Following a successful procurement process, GFSL's services will complete transfer to a private sector provider no sooner than August 2027.
