IT Operations Controller – Graphics Unlimited (Vic) Pty Ltd
Hybrid working with flexible hours, a pay of £38,772 per annum, and a 28.97% civil service pension contribution.
Location:
Newcastle or Manchester. This is a 24/7 shift role – 14 shifts every 28 days on a 12‑hour rota (07:00‑19:00 and 19:00‑07:00) with a 20% shift allowance.
As an Associate IT Operations Controller you will be the first line of defence protecting critical digital services for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). Working 24/7 in a fast‑paced operations environment, you will monitor systems, detect incidents, and collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to resolve issues and enhance service stability.
Responsibilities- Monitor infrastructure and applications across data centre and cloud environments (AWS, Azure) using enterprise tools (BMC, Dynatrace, etc.).
- Follow event management processes, triage and categorise alerts, raise incidents, and provide initial diagnosis to minimise disruption.
- Collaborate with internal teams, external suppliers, and 2nd/3rd‑line technical SMEs to drive timely resolution.
- Support batch monitoring, vulnerability management and operational security activities and drive improvements in performance, processes and user experience.
- Analyse patterns and trends, identify opportunities for simplification and efficiency gains.
- Experience in a live IT operations environment (problem, change, incident, monitoring or event management).
- Background in first‑line command centre, service monitoring or incident resolution teams.
- Practical knowledge of monitoring tools such as BMC, Dynatrace or similar enterprise monitoring tools.
- Understanding of IT infrastructure technologies (networks, servers – Wintel, Unix, Linux, storage platforms, databases).
- Pay of £38,772 per annum.
- 28.97% employer pension contribution (up to £11,241 per year).
