Role Overview
Senior Enterprise Architect role at HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) as part of the Chief Digital & Information Officer (CDIO) Group and Architecture Office team.
This role leads the Enterprise Architecture function across a multi‑billion‑pound portfolio of business transformation projects, driving consistent architecture and guiding IT strategy.
Base pay: £?? (range not specified). Additional allowance up to £12,000 based on a Capability and Skills Assessment.
Hours:
60% of your working month from a Regional Hub. The role closes 16 Jan 2026 – CV only.
- Produce strategic briefings for technical key holders on enterprise‑level change, collaborating with Solution, Enterprise and Chief Architects.
- Track and manage conditions raised during the key holder impacting process.
- Impact items at the triage stage of the end‑to‑end lifecycle (E2
ELC). - Lead creation of architectural outputs to support cost estimating, sequencing, and capacity planning for fiscal events.
- Maintain a repository of impacts and engage with key forums (EPWG, Design Forum, CIDC).
- Translate enterprise strategy into architectural artefacts and advise senior leaders on the impact of changes.
- Champion adoption of modern cloud technologies, guiding transformation of HMRC’s IT estate and supporting the “Digital by Default” strategy.
- Evidence of strategic influence and technical leadership across enterprise‑scale IT projects.
- Experience driving technology change within organisational transformation.
- Strong stakeholder management, simplifying complex information for senior audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and enforce architectural principles, policies and standards.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Microsoft Azure) and TOGAF.
- Knowledge of EA tools (e.g., Abacus).
- Experience with architecture governance and large IT estates.
- Commercial awareness of procurement, contracts and sourcing strategies.
- Passion for continuous improvement and development of teams.
