Role Overview

The role involves working within the Ophthalmology Waiting List team, assisting with the admission of patients to the waiting list for surgery across all ophthalmology specialties, including cataract surgery. The role helps manage the admissions of patients to maximise theatre use according to the instructions of the consultants and their respective teams, organising waiting lists to ensure that maximum waiting time targets are met whilst patient choice is not compromised.

The position reports to the senior waiting list co‑ordinator.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Admissions and Outpatients Manager to ensure a systematic approach for delivering NHS Plan commitments for access to elective and day case surgery.
  • Manage the admissions to maximise theatre use according to the wishes of the consultant and their team.
  • Organise waiting lists to ensure that maximum waiting time targets are met whilst patient choice is not compromised.

  • High level of accuracy
Experience
  • Previous PAS experience
Desirable
  • Previous work experience within the NHS
  • Previous experience in waiting list management
Qualifications
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification / knowledge / experience
Desirable Qualifications
  • ECDL computer qualification or equivalent
