Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Outpatient Team within the Dermatology Department for a part‑time Band 2 Administration Assistant. Post holders will be required to provide an efficient reception service to both clinicians and patients. The successful candidate will work within a team of outpatient staff, but also have the ability to work independently and must follow the Department's Policies and Procedures.
Excellent communication skills, flexibility, reliability and an organised approach to work are essential.

The role involves working closely with patients, medical and nursing staff and providing a face‑to‑face reception service including checking patients in and out and making appointments. Independence and strict adherence to policies and procedures are essential.

- Support the provision of an efficient admin and clerical service within the operational services department.
- Ensure patient documents are prepared, updated and available in a timely manner.
- Provide information to patients, relatives and staff.
- Deal with telephone enquiries promptly.
- Ensure that data input is amended as necessary.
- Good standard of English and Maths at GCSE or equivalent at grade C or above.
- Keyboard skills with a sound knowledge of computers.
- Good communication skills – written, verbal and telephone.
- ECDL computer qualification.
- Experience with NHS software packages (Systm One, eRecord).
- Previous experience working in a patient/public environment in an administration or clerical role.
- Previous experience working within the NHS.
- Knowledge of NHS software packages and electronic record systems.
