Job Summary

Join one of the UK’s premier NHS foundation trusts in clinical trial activities. The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a motivated and skilled Lead Clinical Trials Pharmacist to integrate with both the clinical and clinical trials teams within cancer services. This role is crucial in ensuring the safe and effective management of clinical trial medications, in compliance with UK legislation and Trust guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Trials Management: Co-manage the clinical trials team within cancer services, ensuring adherence to UK legislative practices and Trust SOPs.
  • Audit and Compliance: Contribute to service audits, implement necessary changes, and enhance practices based on audit outcomes.
  • Financial Oversight: Monitor drug usage within a specified area and promote cost-effective prescribing strategies, providing reports as needed.
  • Specialist Advice: Provide expert recommendations and advice to healthcare staff through various communication channels.
  • Training and Development: Attend a Good Clinical Practice (GCP) course and ongoing refreshers, and engage in in-house training within the Pharmacy Clinical Trials unit.
About the Role

You will be based at the Clinical Trials Unit at the Northern Centre for Cancer Care, Freeman Hospital, with potential responsibilities across other units within the Trust. You will report to the Senior Lead Clinical Trials Pharmacist and Senior Lead Clinical Pharmacist – Cancer Services.

Note: Part-time or secondment opportunities may be considered. Independent prescriber qualification is required or must be undertaken if not already held.
