Job Type: Part‑time (18.75 hrs per week, mostly weekend and evening work)
Duration: 2‑year fixed‑term pilot
About the roleWe’re excited to be opening a brand‑new Children and Young People’s Safe Haven in Newcastle and Gateshead City Centres in January 2026. The service will provide a warm, welcoming space where young people can receive immediate support during times of mental‑health distress. This innovative service is a partnership between Everyturn Mental Health‑Streetwise and Children North East, and we’re looking for a passionate and motivated Team Lead to help launch and develop this project.
As Team Lead, you will drive the day‑to‑day delivery of the Safe Haven, ensuring safe, high‑quality, and compassionate support for young people. You’ll provide hands‑on leadership, manage the staff team, oversee service performance, and collaborate with partners across Everyturn Streetwise and Children North East to ensure the service runs smoothly. This is an opportunity to shape a brand‑new service, influence local pathways, and create a supportive environment that genuinely changes outcomes for young people and families.

What we're looking for- A relevant professional qualification (e.g., counselling, social work, youth work, PGCE, etc.)
- Experience supporting young people’s mental health through 1:1, group or crisis support
- Ability to lead, motivate and support staff
- Strong risk assessment and safeguarding knowledge
- Excellent communication, organisation and record‑keeping skills
- Ability to work autonomously and thrive in a changing, fast‑paced environment
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle
- Management experience or a management qualification
- Experience delivering training to professionals
