We have a new position available for a Health and Safety Manager working hybrid from our Newcastle office to support our employees and offices across UK and Ireland.
Working alongside the Regional Security, Health and Safety (SHS) Manager, this role entails managing a broad scope of EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) responsibilities, including collaboration with other EHS Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), local SHS coordinators and other essential support functions. This position requires innovative thinking and a comprehensive remit to assess, develop, and implement EHS standards for employees in the UK&I, along with strong process improvement skills.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with the Regional Security Health and Safety (SHS) Manager, EHS Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), local SHS coordinators and support functions to assess, develop and implement EHS standards for employees in the UK and Ireland
- Understand and apply EHS requirements, laws, regulations and best practices related to occupational health and safety
- Lead and coordinate EHS projects to increase awareness and ensure compliance, including risk assessments, audits and EHS campaigns
- Communicate and implement EHS policies and programs among employees and contractors, partnering with internal stakeholders
- Deliver and promote health and safety training at country and site levels, covering topics such as ergonomics, first aid and fire prevention
- Manage injury and illness prevention, investigate incidents, prepare documentation and identify root causes and trends
- Monitor and report EHS performance metrics, participate in inspections, audits and EHS Committee meetings
- At least 3 years of experience in health and safety management, including coordinating dispersed teams (environmental management experience is beneficial)
- In-depth understanding of relevant EHS legislation and standards
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to develop and implement departmental goals and strategies
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Capable of managing multiple sites remotely and working both independently and as part of a team
