Overview

We have a role available for a Compliance Analyst in Newcastle. The main purpose of the role is to deliver independent and reliable compliance assurance by planning and executing control testing, analysing results and identifying root causes.

The Compliance Analyst supports remediation activities and acts as a subject-matter resource on controls and testing methodologies. The role also contributes to enhancing the assurance framework, helping the organisation proactively manage regulatory, policy, and control risks.

What will you be doing?

Key responsibilities will include:

Testing and assurance
  • Deliver risk-based assurance activity in line with the Compliance Monitoring Plan (CMP) through auditing, data analysis, stakeholder engagement and reporting.
  • Conduct file reviews, sampling, exception testing, and other assurance activities to support the quarterly monitoring dashboard.
  • Ensure all testing is executed to a high standard, and that work papers are complete, accurate, and audit ready.
  • Document findings clearly and escalate non-compliance, exceptions, or observations in accordance with procedures.
  • Track remedial actions to completion, validate evidence and perform re-testing where required.
Reporting
  • Contribute to monthly dashboards, and quarterly enterprise risk management and group risk reporting.
  • Identify patterns and trends across testing cycles and proactively flag control weaknesses.
Methodology and framework support
  • Support the mapping and maintenance of the control library.
  • Assist with the development and enhancement of compliance monitoring methodologies and assurance processes.
  • Assist with planning of reviews, including scoping tests and assessing control design and regulatory requirements.
Additional compliance support
  • Coordinate the day-to-day activities of the compliance monitoring function.
  • Support other compliance activities as required, including the group sanctions screening programme.
About you Skills/Qualifications/Experience
  • Organised and analytical, with a high level of accuracy and good attention to detail.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • A critical thinker with the ability to interpret and present data.
  • Experience in the financial services / insurance industry.
  • Knowledge of insurance, sanctions, regulatory framework and shipping is desirable.
  • Microsoft Office Skills – Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to pick up other internal IT systems quickly.
  • GCSE / A Levels including English and Mathematics or equivalent experience.

Salary starting from £35,000, dependant upon experience
