Payroll Assistant – Arup, Newcastle Upon Tyne, England, United Kingdom
Be part of Arup’s Finance team in a shared service centre that processes monthly payroll for staff across the UK, UAE, India and Kenya. This is a 6‑month FTC role reporting to the Payroll Deputy Team Leader.
Responsibilities- Process starters, leavers, one‑off payments, season ticket and bicycle loans.
- Validate payroll changes and upload tax information.
- Manage sickness and statutory absence records including birthing parent and shared parental leave.
- Handle international payroll processing.
- Prepare reporting and perform reconciliations, including data cleansing.
- Process third‑party payments.
- Provide correspondence and customer service support.
- Assist with ad‑hoc tasks as required.
- Strong payroll processing experience.
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- High accuracy and ability to meet tight timescales.
- Awareness or experience of a shared service centre environment.
- Understanding of payroll legislation and processes.
- Ability to create and review procedures.
- Process improvement experience.
- Excellent written and spoken communication and interpersonal skills.
