Contract Type: Contract (Outside IR35)

Location: Remote first, with occasional office visits required in Newcastle.

Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer with TP137 CDAE authorisation to support design and engineering works on a major power infrastructure project. This is a 12-month contract role, working outside IR35, with flexible working arrangements.

The successful candidate will support the delivery of electrical design packages while operating under TP137 / CDAE authorisation, ensuring all engineering outputs comply with project standards and network requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver electrical design and engineering documentation for power and grid infrastructure projects.

  • Act under TP137 CDAE authorisation to review and approve design deliverables where required.

  • Produce and review design drawings, calculations, and technical specifications.

  • Support design assurance and compliance with network operator standards.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and project stakeholders.

  • Participate in technical reviews, design checks, and engineering approvals.

  • Ensure engineering deliverables meet industry standards, safety requirements, and project timelines.

Requirements

  • Proven experience working as an Electrical Design Engineer within the power, utilities, or transmission sector.

  • TP137 CDAE authorisation is essential.

  • Experience with HV / EHV electrical infrastructure, substations, or power transmission projects.

  • Strong understanding of electrical design standards and engineering documentation.

  • Ability to work independently while coordinating with wider engineering teams.

  • Excellent technical and communication skills.
