Overview
We re recruiting on behalf of a client for a hands‑on Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Chassis Team. This is an exciting opportunity to develop innovative concepts and design the next generation of market‑leading products, supporting the team from concept through to production.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, engineer, and validate new systems and components from concept to production.
- Communicate design requirements clearly to internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Support product launches and provide engineering assistance to resolve production and field issues.
- Investigate service issues, identify root causes, and implement practical solutions.
- Work collaboratively within a cross‑functional team, maintaining high standards of quality and attention to detail.
- HNC/HND/Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (essential).
- M/BEng or Chartered Engineer (desirable).
- Proven industry experience in mechanical design, ideally within automotive or related sectors.
- Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals including stress, strain, fatigue, material specifications, and design methodology.
- Proficient in CAD (ideally Solid Edge), BS8888 drawing standards, and BOM creation.
- Experience with manufacturing processes, design for manufacture & assembly, and problem‑solving.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365.
- Positive, can–do attitude and attention to detail.
- Flexible working options: up to 2 days WFH after settling into the role.
- The role may involve UK and overseas field support as required.
