A leading multidisciplinary Consultancy with a strong national presence is seeking a Senior Civil Infrastructure Engineer to join its Newcastle office. The Consultancy delivers a comprehensive array of civil engineering consultancy services, ranging from small-scale infrastructure assessments to large strategic transport schemes. Regardless of a project's size, nature or complexity, it possesses the depth of technical expertise required to meet diverse client needs across both public and private sectors.

Its extensive portfolio spans roads, bridges, sewers, water supply systems, communication networks, energy facilities, airports, public transportation systems, flood defences, canals, dams, ports, harbours, mining operations and railways. In addition, the Consultancy supports residential, commercial and mixed-use developments with integrated infrastructure solutions, including highways and drainage design.

Involvement in civil engineering design and implementation extends across all stages of the project lifecycle. The Consultancy has a proven track record of adding value through feasibility studies, conceptual design, option assessments, detailed design, statutory procedures, public inquiries, contract documentation, site supervision and long-term asset management. By coordinating multiple civil engineering disciplines through dedicated project teams and carefully managing risk, it consistently delivers designs aligned with project objectives, programme requirements and budget constraints.

You will play a key role in the technical delivery and management of infrastructure projects within this collaborative environment. Responsibilities include leading the design of highway and drainage schemes, preparing and reviewing detailed calculations, drawings, specifications and reports, and ensuring compliance with relevant UK standards and local authority requirements. The successful candidate will liaise with clients, planners and statutory authorities, contributing to planning submissions, highway and water authority agreements, and technical reports such as drainage strategies and flood risk assessments.

The role requires strong project management capability, including programme and resource coordination, commercial awareness and the ability to mentor and develop junior engineers. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with the confidence to represent the Consultancy at meetings and external forums.

Applicants should hold a relevant engineering degree and be Chartered, or working towards Chartered status, with a recognised professional institution. Significant consultancy experience in the delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure schemes is essential, together with proficiency in relevant industry design software. A full UK driving licence is required.
