Principal Geomorphologist

Overview

Stantec seeks an experienced consultant to join our Flood and Water Management team. This key role will ideally be based in Reading, but we will consider other locations for the right candidate. It offers scope to grow, learn new skills, and works with a wide range of public and private UK clients on flood management and river restoration projects.

• Support the Water Management Team and Project Directors in developing projects from initial enquiry to delivery, leading the whole project lifecycle.
• Lead project teams, manage team members, and maintain wider business relationships.
• Deliver fluvial audits, river restoration and geomorphology assessments, and support WFD Assessments, EIA, flood risk assessments, drainage designs and option reporting.
• Engage in policy and modelling‑based assessments, detailed design of flood management and river restoration schemes.

We require a BSc/BEng/MEng/MSc qualification and ideally chartered (or nearly chartered) through ICE/CIWEM. Candidates should demonstrate significant technical leadership in complex water and environmental projects, with expertise in one or more of the following:

• Geomorphology and fluvial audits
• River engineering, restoration/habitat improvement, flood alleviation schemes
• Habitats directive and water framework directive assessments
• Flood risk assessments, development resilience and environmental statements
• River and sediment hydraulic modelling
• Catchment based approaches to sustainable water and sediment management
