This Senior / Contaminated Land Geo‑environmental Consultant role supports contaminated land assessment and remediation projects. Flexible location across Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle upon Tyne, Nottingham, London, Basingstoke, Bristol, Glasgow. Hybrid work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Project and task management
- Management of site investigations
- Supervision of field work including soil logging and environmental sampling, chemical and geotechnical testing, groundwater sampling and ground gas monitoring
- Data collation, review and interpretation
- Preparation and review of technical reports: desk studies, ground investigation reports, remediation options appraisals and verification reports
- Site investigation design
- Development of client relationships
- Ensuring all work is delivered in line with procedures and to the highest safety, health and environmental standards
- Support to early‑career professionals
Experience and Qualifications
- Knowledge of requirements for planning, designing and management of site investigations
- Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations application to safe design and implementation of site investigations
- Understanding of the land contamination regime within the UK and the risk‑based approach to assessment
- Report writing and presentation of complex technical information
- Data handling, including experience in the use of GIS (desirable)
- Experience with regulatory regimes: planning consenting, environmental permitting, due diligence, nuclear site end states, GRR, environmental impact assessment
- Specialist technical areas: quantitative risk assessment, waste/material management, radiological characterisation, hydrogeology, remediation
- Relevant technical degree (chemistry, biology, geology, engineering, environmental science)
- Working towards / prepared to work towards Chartership / Professional Qualification (e.g., QP)
- Ability to travel
