Civil Engineer – Aviation
WSP invites applications for the Civil Engineer – Aviation role in the UK & Ireland.
OverviewDrawing upon extensive experience, WSP’s aviation experts plan, design and manage construction of airports of tomorrow, focusing on resilience, sustainability and smart technologies. We are looking for a Civil Engineer to support UK and international engineering projects, with opportunities for international travel and professional development.
Responsibilities- Supporting the preparation of technical reports, calculations, drawings and specifications related to the delivery of airfield engineering projects at airports in both the UK and overseas.
- Helping to identify and manage design risks, issues and Request for Information (RFIs).
- Ensuring all deliverables and milestones are achieved to cost/quality/time targets.
- Championing excellent health and safety practice, including safety in design, site visit safety and compliance with CDM regulations.
- Supporting Project Managers by undertaking project progress monitoring and contributing to the development of appropriate project controls, including change management, information management and document control.
- Responding to client directions in a professional and customer‑focused manner and developing and maintaining relationships with clients, peers and others who influence future business.
- A University degree relevant to civil engineering, construction, design or a related discipline.
- Experience of delivering civil engineering projects; aviation‑specific work is not required, but experience on similar projects such as highways, urban realm or maritime ports is acceptable.
- Knowledge and experience of international airfield design standards such as ICAO, CAA, EASA and FAA is preferable but not required.
- Knowledge and experience of using AutoCAD, Civil 3D and other relevant engineering design software packages.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Enjoys working in a team environment and can provide examples of successful collaboration to solve complex problems.
- Confident working under pressure, prioritising and planning effectively, with examples of successful time management.
