A supportive and inclusive school in Newcastle upon Tyne is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. This SEN Teaching Assistant role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs and helping them achieve their full potential.

The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will work closely with teachers and the SENCO to support pupils with a range of needs including ASD, ADHD, SEMH and learning difficulties. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored 1:1 and small group support, helping pupils engage positively with their learning and school environment.

Key Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant:

Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN.

Supporting teaching and learning within the classroom.

Implementing individual education plans and behaviour strategies.

Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation.

Assisting with lesson preparation and adapting resources where required.

Helping to maintain a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.

The Ideal SEN Teaching Assistant Will:

Have previous experience working with children or young people with SEN.

Be patient, resilient and nurturing in their approach.

Have strong communication and teamwork skills.

Be confident supporting pupils with varying needs and abilities.

Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply).

Have a fully checkable work history.

This SEN Teaching Assistant role requires a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection. All successful applicants must satisfy safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service.
