At Newcastle Research and Innovation Institute, we provide postgraduate education and training with MScs in Electrical Power Engineering, Energy and Sustainability, Marine Technology and Process Safety and Risk Management as well as research degrees (PhD, MPhil). The RoleWe are recruiting Clinical Teaching Fellows and Anatomy Teaching Fellows for our Newcastle, UK campus.
We also have Clinical Teaching Fellow posts available at our Malaysian campus (see separate job advert which will be available soon).
This post is offered on a one‑year fixed term contract commencing in August 2026. There is potential for a second year in the post, subject to satisfactory performance in the role.
For this post we require highly motivated and enthusiastic doctors, who will be an important part of the School of Medicine team in Newcastle.
- You will be involved in the delivery of our MBBS curriculum to year 1 and 2 medical students for clinical skills or anatomy teaching,
- You will have the opportunity to contribute to education research projects and to the development of teaching and learning activities and resources,
- You will also be offered the opportunity to undertake the Certificate in Clinical Education.
- You are expected to have an MBBS degree and to be clinically active, with relevant experience in the NHS, and to have completed your Foundation training (or equivalent) by August 2026,
There are no clinical, patient‑facing duties within this role.

Key Accountabilities- Responsible to the Head of School, you will:
- Work as part of a team of teaching fellows who make an important contribution to developing, coordinating and delivering the undergraduate teaching programme at Newcastle,
- Predominantly teach small groups in the classroom, clinical skills centre or anatomy department,
- Provide pastoral support and academic mentoring to students,
- Engage in medical education research under supervision from senior colleagues,
- Conduct assessment of clinical skills - this includes both written and practical (OSCE) examinations,
- Contribute to faculty development opportunities, including peer observation of teaching, to develop your teaching skills,
- Undertake other teaching, academic and administrative duties as seen necessary by the Head of School including student admissions, recruitment, appraisal, mentoring and assessment.
