School Counselor, Guidance Counselor: Social/Educational
An 11–18 secondary school is seeking a committed Pastoral Support Assistant to join its established pastoral team.
This is a school with strong safeguarding systems, clear behaviour expectations and a proactive approach to attendance, wellbeing and early intervention. Pastoral staff are central to the school’s day‑to‑day operations.
Walker / Riverside Area, Newcastle upon Tyne
£95 – £115 per day (PAYE)| Full‑Time | Immediate Start
- Support pupils with attendance, punctuality and engagement
- Deliver 1:1 mentoring sessions focused on wellbeing and behaviour
- Monitor and track pastoral interventions
- Liaise with Heads of Year, safeguarding and SEND teams
- Support reintegration following absence or suspension
- Act as a consistent, professional adult presence
The role combines relationship‑building with structure and accountability.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
