Role Description

The Performance Academy at Newcastle College is seeking a skilled and industry-experienced Music Lecturer to join our Further Education team. This role includes Programme Lead responsibilities and is ideal for an ambitious practitioner with a specialism in studio production and a desirable secondary strength music performance.

You will deliver across our Level 2 (Intermediate) and Level 3 (Advanced) Music provision, with a focus on studio recording, production workflows, sound design and music technology. A strong working knowledge of Digital Audio Workstations (such as Logic, Pro Tools, Ableton or similar) is essential, alongside the ability to contextualise practice within current industry standards. Applicants with additional experience in live performance, band development or artist development will be particularly welcome.

As Programme Lead, you will take responsibility for the coordination and day-to-day management of your programme area. This will include curriculum planning, quality assurance, monitoring student progress and achievement, supporting enrichment and performance activity, and acting as a key point of contact for both staff and students. You will work collaboratively with the Assistant Head of Curriculum and teaching team to ensure high standards of delivery, innovation and student experience.

We are looking for someone with strong industry insight, a passion for developing emerging talent, and the organisational skills to lead a programme effectively. You should have experience teaching in Further Education (Level 2 and Level 3 desirable), understand quality processes, and be confident supporting colleagues within a team environment.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in developing our studio and production offer, contributing to a vibrant performance culture and helping to strengthen our pipeline into the regional and national music industry.

If you are ready to combine creative practice, leadership and education within a thriving academy environment, we would love to hear from you.
