Are you a creative and passionate Art & Design Specialist Teacher looking to inspire students and nurture artistic talent?

GSL Education are seeking an enthusiastic Art & Design Specialist Teacher to work in secondary schools across Newcastle upon Tyne. We are seeking a creative and enthusiastic Art & Design teacher to join our successful Art, Music, and Technology Faculty. You will teach Art & Design across Key Stages 3 and 4, including Fine Art, Art, Craft & Design, and Textiles, with access to your own classroom, well-equipped resources, and a supportive team of subject specialists.

About the Role:

As an Art & Design Specialist Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging lessons across Key Stages, encouraging students to explore a range of artistic techniques and creative processes. You will play a key role in fostering a positive learning environment where students can express themselves and achieve strong academic and creative outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver inspiring Art & Design lessons aligned with the curriculum
  • Teach a range of artistic techniques, media, and creative practices
  • Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing constructive feedback
  • Support students of varying abilities and encourage creative confidence
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment
  • Work collaboratively with departmental staff and wider school teams
  • Uphold safeguarding, behaviour, and school policies at all times
Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification in Art & Design
  • Experience teaching Art & Design at secondary level
  • Strong subject knowledge and passion for creative education
  • Confident classroom management and effective communication skills
  • Flexible, reliable, and able to adapt to different school settings
  • A commitment to student achievement and wellbeing
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one with GSL Education
