Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning? Do you have the resilience, confidence, and positivity needed to help students manage their behaviour and build better futures?
We are currently seeking a Behaviour Support Mentor to join a welcoming school in Newcastle. This is an excellent opportunity for someone experienced in behaviour support, youth work, or SEND who is looking to make a real difference.

About the Role

As a Behaviour Support Mentor, you will play a key role in helping students engage positively with their learning. You'll provide both one‑to‑one and small‑group support, helping pupils develop emotional regulation, confidence, and coping strategies.

You'll be working alongside teaching staff, pastoral teams, and SENCOs to ensure each young person receives personalised support.

Key Responsibilities

Support pupils who display challenging behaviour, emotional needs, or low engagement.
Work 1:1 with students to develop behaviour strategies and build positive relationships.
Deliver small-group interventions focused on behaviour, social skills, or emotional regulation.
Implement behaviour plans and provide consistent boundaries and guidance.
Assist teaching staff in creating an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
Promote positive behaviour and act as a role model for pupils.
De‑escalate challenging situations using calm, effective techniques.
Monitor pupil progress and report concerns to senior staff or SEND teams.
Contribute to safeguarding and wellbeing across the school.

About You

Experience working with children or young people in a school, youth work, PRU, or SEND setting.
Confident managing challenging behaviour and using de‑escalation strategies.
Patient, resilient, and able to build strong rapport with hard‑to‑reach learners.
Passionate about helping students overcome barriers to learning.
Available full-time and able to commit to long‑term work.
