What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking for friendly, approachable and calm individuals to join our team as a teaching & learning support practitioner. Previous experience of working in an SEMH environment and managing pupil behaviour would be an advantage.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate that they can build and maintain successful working relationships with learners and treat them consistently, with respect and consideration.
Ideally you will have or be working towards NVQ level 2 or 3 for Teaching Assistants or have an equivalent qualification or experience. A minimum of Level 2 Basic Skills in Literacy and Numeracy is required for this role.
Criteria- Experience of advancing progress of pupils of relevant age within a learning environment.
- Experience of managing pupil behaviour and supervising pupils under an agreed system of supervision and processes for integrated working.
- Experience of administering, assessing and marking tests.
- Training in relevant learning strategies and specialist knowledge in a particular curriculum area.
- Working towards Level 2 Basic Skills (Literacy and Numeracy) or equivalent competency.
- NVQ 2 or 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification or experience.
- Full driving licence.
- Friendly, approachable and professional manner with a calm approach.
- A commitment to working as part of the whole school team and supporting the vision and aims of the school.
- High expectations of all pupils, respect for their social, cultural, linguistic, religious and ethnic backgrounds, and commitment to raising their educational achievements.
- Ability to build and maintain successful relationships with pupils, treating them consistently, with respect and consideration, and demonstrating concern for their development as learners.
- Able to improve their own practice through observations, evaluation and discussion with colleagues.
- Skills and experience in providing emotional safety, building relationships, co-regulation and aiding reflection in children and young people.
- Good attention and evaluative skills leading to positive reflective skills to interpret students underlying needs.
- Experience of integrated working.
- Experience of working 1:1 with students.
- Appropriate first aid training.
