Position: Graduates Wanted | Primary Teaching Assistant
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne

If you’re a graduate who’s curious about teaching and loves working with children, this could be the perfect next step. A welcoming and inclusive primary school in the heart of Heaton is looking to appoint a Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant to work closely alongside the class teacher, supporting pupils across the classroom and providing targeted group support for children with additional needs.

About the role:

This is a varied and rewarding TA role, ideal for graduates who are interested in education, child development, psychology, or SEND.

Your role will include:

  • Supporting the class teacher during lessons and daily routines in a KS1 classroom
  • Working with small groups of pupils with additional needs outside the classroom to reinforce learning
  • Assisting with phonics, reading, writing and early numeracy activities
  • Helping pupils to stay focused, confident and engaged in their learning
  • Supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation using clear routines and encouragement
  • Contributing to a calm, inclusive learning environment where pupils feel safe and supported

You’ll be guided by experienced teachers and support staff and will gain hands‑on experience in a structured, supportive setting.
