Overview
We are inviting applications for a clinical fellow post primarily focused on Silver Trauma. The appointee will work under a joint team of Older People s Medicine major trauma specialists and Emergency Medicine. This post is available from Feb 4th 2026 with either a 6 or 12 month contract available. You must have full GMC registration with a license to practice and have completed Foundation Training and / or Core Training.
The post will provide a solid basis from which to apply for specialist training and many previous fellows have gone on to secure such posts.
The fellow will spend their time integrated into the Major Trauma inpatient service at the RVI providing cover expected of ST1-2 level. Alongside the trauma geriatrics consultant, ED consultants, and specialist nurses the successful applicant will care for patients based mainly on the trauma ward (ward 23), together with older patients admitted under neurosciences and other trauma active specialities. The role will provide the perfect opportunity to gain further experience in the management of inpatient major trauma, and frail older people alongside our specialist teams.
The posts will develop skills in holistic care and multi-speciality working that are relevant to all branches of medicine and surgery. There will be opportunities within the trauma service for candidates to develop non-clinical areas of interest such as quality assurance, clinical governance and education, including simulation. At the RVI there is the opportunity to join grand rounds and to attend weekly teaching delivered via Emergency Medicine.
The OPM weekly teaching is currently held in the FRH but the opportunity to join remotely from the RVI site is in development.
As a flexible working friendly organisation, we want to be sure that you can work in a way that is best for us and for our patients, and for you. Speak to us about how we might be able to accommodate a flexible working arrangement. If it works for the service, we will do our best to make it work for you.
