Our client, a well-established employee-owned landscape architecture and urban design studio in the North East is looking to bring in a Principal BIM Technician to support project delivery and strengthen how BIM is used across the practice. The team works across a wide mix of projects including education, regeneration, healthcare and infrastructure schemes throughout the UK. They are now looking for someone senior who can combine hands on technical delivery with supporting colleagues across the studio who are working in BIM.
The office is based in Newcastle upon Tyne and is easy to reach by public transport, with good rail and Metro connections, making it accessible from across the wider region.
This would suit someone who enjoys solving technical problems, sharing knowledge with others and helping project teams feel more confident working in a BIM environment.
THE ROLE- Supporting project teams with model development and preparation of technical information across different project stages
- Leading the technical delivery of projects through later design and construction stages including contract administration and coordination
- Supporting coordination with architects, engineers and contractors
- Providing technical oversight of BIM models and drawing packages produced within the studio
- Delivering BIM training and ongoing support to colleagues across the practice
- Mentoring team members to help build confidence using Revit and BIM workflows
- Helping keep digital standards consistent and practical across projects
- This is not a purely managerial role. The person coming in would remain closely involved with live projects while also helping develop BIM knowledge across the wider team
- TMLI (Technical Member of the Landscape Institute)
- MCIAT (Member of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists)
- BSc degree in Architecture, Engineering or relevant field
- Autodesk Certified Professional in Revit for Architectural Design
- Strong experience working in a senior BIM or technical role within the built environment
- Strong Revit capability and experience producing coordinated project information
- A solid understanding of construction detailing and technical delivery
- Experience supporting or training colleagues in BIM workflows
- A clear and approachable communication style when working with teams
- Experience with landscape, public realm or infrastructure projects would be useful but not essential
- Familiarity with recognised BIM standards would also be helpful
- A senior technical role with real influence across the practice
- Supportive, people-first studio within an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT)
- Competitive salary aligned with Principal-level responsibility
- Private medical insurance, paid CPD, professional memberships
- 25 days annual leave + bank holidays
- Flexible and hybrid working
- Early Friday finishes
