ROLE: Estimating Manager (Commercial Focus)
SALARY: £60,000 - £80,000 (DOE)
LOCATION: Hertfordhsire

With a strong pipeline of high-profile work, they are now seeking an Estimating Manager to lead and shape their estimating function - with a strong commercial and QS influence.

This is a genuine opportunity to build the division in your own image, with autonomy, ownership, and board-level visibility.

• Lead and develop the estimating division, implementing robust processes, strategy, and controls.
• Take full ownership of estimating activity across large-scale infrastructure and structural steel packages.
• Work closely with Tier 1 main contractors on bids, tenders, and negotiated projects.
• Provide commercial leadership across pre-construction, ensuring strong cost planning and risk mitigation.
• Oversee pricing strategy, value engineering, and margin control.
• Mentor and support junior estimators and commercial team members.
• Collaborate with senior leadership on pipeline, forecasting, and business strategy.
• Provide QS-level commercial input including cost management, contract awareness, and financial risk assessment.

• Proven leadership experience in estimating within the structural steel sector.
• Strong background in commercial management and/or Quantity Surveying.
• Confident dealing with Tier 1 contractors and familiar with their commercial processes.
• Strong understanding of contracts, cost control, variations, and risk analysis.
• Commercially astute with the ability to protect margin while remaining competitive.
• Ambitious, driven, and capable of building and shaping a high-performing division.
