The Company
A well-established, privately owned main contractor with a strong regional presence across the North of England is looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to support its growing North East operation. The business delivers projects across Industrial, Logistics, Commercial and Residential sectors, working with a loyal client base and a trusted supply chain. Known for its stable workload, collaborative culture and commitment to developing talent, this is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor looking to progress their career within a supportive main contracting environment.
The RoleAs Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial delivery of live construction projects, working closely with Senior Quantity Surveyors, Project Managers and site teams. The role offers a balanced mix of site and office-based work, providing exposure to all aspects of the commercial lifecycle from procurement through to final account, with clear mentoring and progression opportunities.
Key Responsibilities- Assisting with the commercial management of construction projects
- Supporting subcontract procurement, enquiries and package comparisons
- Measurement, valuations, variations and cost control
- Preparation of monthly cost reports and forecasts
- Administration of contracts under JCT & NEC forms
Supporting the agreement of subcontractor accounts and final accounts - Liaising with site teams to monitor progress and cost performance
- Ensuring compliance with commercial procedures and best practice
- Experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Assistant Quantity Surveyor with a Main Contractor
- Knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts
- Understanding of construction commercial processes
Experience with cost reporting and subcontract management - Competent with commercial systems and Microsoft Office
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management (desirable)
- Eager to learn and develop within a commercial team
- Strong attention to detail and numerical ability
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Organised with the ability to manage workloads effectively
- Positive, proactive and team-focused attitude
- Salary up to £65,000 + package (depending on experience)
