Role Overview /

Job Summary:

The Advanced Practitioner – Child Protection role provides high-level expertise and leadership within the Child Protection team. You will play a key role in driving quality assessments and interventions, promoting best practice, and working closely with managers and partner agencies to safeguard children and improve outcomes.

What you will do:
  • Complex Case Management:
    Manage a reduced caseload of complex child protection cases and undertake statutory assessments.
  • Practice Leadership:
    Provide guidance, mentoring, and case consultation to social workers to support professional development.
  • Quality Assurance:
    Contribute to audits, learning reviews, and practice improvement initiatives.
  • Court Work:
    Lead and support court-related cases, prepare high-quality reports, and represent the local authority in legal proceedings.
  • Multi-Agency Working:
    Work collaboratively with partner agencies, attend conferences, and ensure robust child protection plans are implemented.
  • Risk Management:

    Assess and manage risks effectively, responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns and serious incidents.
Person Specification / Requirements:
  • Qualifications: Degree in Social Work (BA / MA / DipSW).
  • Registration: Registered with Social Work England (SWE).
  • Experience: Significant post-qualifying experience in Children’s Social Care, particularly Child Protection, court work, and mentoring.
  • Desirable: Post-qualifying training in child protection or advanced practice.
