Ambition is proud to be partnering with a Top 40 UK accountancy and advisory firm to recruit an ABS Senior for their growing Accounts & Business Services team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to join a well-established firm supporting a diverse client base including entrepreneurs, owner-managed businesses, and international groups. The firm offers a collaborative working culture, strong technical support, and clear progression opportunities.
The role is offered on a hybrid basis, with a minimum of three days per week in the Newcastle office.
As an ABS Senior, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality accounting and compliance services to a portfolio of clients. You will ensure work is completed accurately and on time while supporting managers and building strong client relationships. You will also play a role in supporting junior team members and contributing to the overall efficiency and quality of the team's output.
KeyResponsibilities
Accounting & Compliance
- Prepare management accounts including reconciliations and commentary
- Complete VAT returns and supporting working papers
- Prepare year-end and statutory accounts in line with accounting standards
- Produce corporation tax computations for straightforward cases
- Support managers with more complex accounting and tax work
Client Relationships
- Act as a key contact for clients and respond to queries professionally
- Build trusted relationships through reliable service delivery
- Understand client businesses and tailor outputs to their needs
Delivery & Quality
- Deliver accurate, well-documented work within agreed deadlines
- Maintain up-to-date timesheets and work-in-progress records
- Manage multiple assignments and prioritise workloads effectively
- Identify and resolve issues before review
Team Support
- Share knowledge and support junior team members
- Contribute to training and development across the team
Systems & Technology
- Use accounting software effectively to deliver efficient work
- Identify opportunities to improve processes through technology
Experience
- 3-4 years' experience within an accounts or business services role in practice
- Experience preparing accounts, VAT returns, and management accounts for a range of clients
Qualifications
- Qualified or part-qualified with AAT qualification, ACA qualification, or ACCA qualification
Skills
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- Confidence using accounting and data analysis software
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently
