The Palliative Care Coordination Centre is piloting an expanded End of Life Home Care Pathway and as part of this work we would looking for a Band 6 Palliative Care Lead (Development) with an interest and experience in Palliative Care.
The role will be supporting the Pathway on triage and patient assessments, but there will also be many opportunities as part of the role to develop into the skills and knowledge to apply for a Band 7 position when one becomes available.

The services operates 7 days a week 365 days a year with core contracted hours of operation between 9am and 6pm. This post is based at Bradwell Hospital in Newcastle under Lyme, but some time will be spent at Norton Cane Health Centre with some travelling across the County.

Main duties of the jobAs a member of the Palliative and End of Life Care Team the post holder will work under the direct or indirect supervision of the Palliative Care Leads and be accountable to the Nurse Consultants. As a band 6 professional you will be expected to work in line with your achieved competence framework with minimal direct supervision on a day to day basis but with the knowledge that senior clinical staff will be available to support the development of new competencies and to debrief and provide advice and information through challenging situations relating to the speciality.
This developmental role is designed to equip the clinician with the skills, knowledge and experience through a structured development programme that will be agreed through the MPFT clinical supervision and appraisal process. This will be designed around the role progression requirements and the individuals existing skill knowledge and experience. This programme will ensure you get the opportunities to attend the relevant courses and gain the appropriate skills and competencies to be successfully progress to a band 7 role in the team.
There is an expectation that this development will vary depending on the existing skills and progression of the postholder. This may take up to approximately 2 years (but not guaranteed) dependent on individual progress towards agreed goals and the availability of vacant band 7 posts.
