WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (RESPONSIBILITIES)- Manage, lead, and motivate the engineering department and ensure we meet departmental responsibilities, objectives and KPI’s. (Key performance indicators)
- Ensure an effective planned preventative maintenance programme is developed and managed in line with the manufacturer’s recommendations, ensuring compliance with all current statutory legislation. This includes risk assessments and company requirements in relation to persons, plant, equipment, property, environmental and health and safety.
- Promote continuous improvement and change through own initiatives.
- Ensure an effective fault response service is always managed and available in line with business requirements.
- Ensure all activities in specialist areas on designated equipment are adequately supported by the sourcing and placing of suitable contracts.
- Control of annual departmental budget expenditure and forecast for future FY.
- Ensure all the engineering drawings and the documentation on equipment is kept up to date.
- Ensure all reporting, recording and administration requirements are achieved (Kronos, Payroll etc).
- Analyse the department’s performance through monthly reporting and optimise areas in need of improvement.
- Assist and guide engineering team leaders to establish their training/development plan and help ensure this plan is achieved.
- Ensure any recommended and additional spare parts are held as part of our engineering stock holding and that they are appropriately recorded and accounted for in line with the control and purchasing systems (audited 6 - monthly, locally - monthly)
- Ensure the Maintenance planning for future business projects is put in place.
- Ensure site protection is maintained and improved with regards to Fire protection and fixed wire installations.
- Responsible for setting of Departments Budgets and Management in line with company accounting procedures.
- Excellent communication skill both written and verbal, with an ability to pitch the approach to suit the audience.
- PC literate that can create both word and PowerPoint documents to an intermediate level. To be able to create documents, sort information and write basic formula in Excel.
- Previous experience of a Leadership or Management role
- Proven track record of process improvement in an Operational environment.
- Proven knowledge of Supply Chain operation, including Inbound, outbound, distribution and Ecommerce
