Job Summary
We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic midwife with experience in Quality and Risk to be based at University Hospitals of North Midlands. The role will support the Deputy Director of Midwifery for Governance in delivering the governance strategy for maternity services.
Responsibilities- Develop the quality and safety agenda to achieve consistency of practice, high standards of care and innovation.
- Assist the Deputy Director of Midwifery in developing the professional midwifery agenda with a strong patient safety focus.
- Serve as the Quality and Safety expert for Women’s services, developing and implementing a robust governance agenda.
- Provide effective leadership and management and promote a proactive approach to clinical governance and risk management.
- Monitor and report on progress of compliance with statutory requirements, risk management, infection prevention and control, incident management (HSIB, MBRACCE, PMRT, ATTAIN, multi‑agency paediatric death investigations), Care Quality Commission standards and regulations, and mandatory staff training.
- Operationally manage the risk process, including timely complaints responses and learning from incidents and complaints.
- Monitor the risk register and ensure compliance with the review process.
- Conduct horizon scanning of potential risks and advise the care group and executive team.
- Ensure the risk register remains up‑to‑date with appropriate risk assessments, mitigations and action plans.
Midwife with experience in Quality and Risk. Experience in clinical governance, risk management and maternity services is preferred.
