Vulcan Forms seeks a CNC Machinist for our Newburyport, MA location. The CNC Machinist position is shift-based on 2nd shift and operates in an environmentally controlled, state-of-the-art facility to produce quality parts for clients in aerospace, military and defense, satellite, and medical devices.
Key Responsibilities- Operate a CNC lathe (including work holding, tooling kit, tool touching off/offsets established, reading manufacturing drawings, and first article buy-off) on FANUC, Yasnac, Mitsubishi, and other controls.
- Operate a CNC 3-, 4-, or 5-axis Mill (including work holding, tooling kit, tool touching off/offsets established, reading manufacturing drawings, and first article buy-off) on Fanuc, Yasnac, Brother, and Heidenhain controls.
- Utilize a pre-setter offline for tool offsets (experience is a plus).
- Work with quick-change tooling (experience is a plus).
- Operate, set up, and edit programs on machines within the department.
- Periodically inspect parts during production to monitor for consistent dimensional and visual quality.
- Continuously monitor equipment and tooling; respond to breakdowns or events that disrupt the process.
- Follow instructions on Process sheets, drawings, and/or programs.
- Support training of more junior team members on machining processes.
- Identify issues and troubleshoot with teammates.
- Interface/communicate with Quality, Engineering, and other team members.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area and follow safety regulations.
- 4+ years of experience with 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC milling centers; 2-axis and multi-axis live tooling lathes; experience with the controls listed in the Key Responsibilities above.
- Ability to read blueprints and a good understanding of GD&T.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Adherence to and enforcement of the company's health & safety policies and procedures.
- Adherence to and enforcement of the company's quality policies and procedures.
- Good hand/eye coordination.
- Graduate of Advanced Machine Technology Course.
- Knowledge of 5S/6S.
Vulcan Forms offers a competitive salary and equity package. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. Vulcan Forms provides comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance; generous paid time off; and a 401(k) plan with company match. The hourly pay range for this position is $20-$34/hr and is based on experience.
