Duration: 3–6 months initially, likely extension
Spirehouse is recruiting an SEN Caseworker for a well-regarded Local Authority. This locum role involves supporting children and young people with the most complex SEND needs, coordinating multi-agency input, and ensuring statutory duties under the Children and Families Act 2014 are met.
Key Duties:
- Manage complex SEN casework and multi-agency coordination
- Chair the SEN Assessment Panel and ensure high-quality plans issued on time
- Represent the LA at SEN Tribunals and prepare Statements of Case
- Advise and negotiate with schools on SEN responsibilities and admissions
- Contribute to SEN policy, process improvement, and service development
Experience:
- Local Authority SEN casework experience – Essential
- Knowledge of Children and Families Act 2014 and SEN Code of Practice – Essential
- EHC Plan drafting and quality assurance – Essential
- SENDIST tribunal experience – Highly desirable
- Multi-agency partnership working – Essential
