Job Title: SEN Teacher – Secondary

Location: New Barn School, Newbury, Berkshire RG20 8HZ

Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum (not pro‑rata)

Hours: 40 hours per week | Monday to Friday

Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only

Start Date: January 2026

New Barn School is a vibrant, specialist secondary school dedicated to supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. We provide a structured, nurturing environment where young people can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Our curriculum combines classroom learning with unique outdoor experiences, including forest school, farm projects, and horse riding, making education engaging, stimulating, and meaningful.

As a Secondary SEN Teacher, you’ll have the opportunity to bring creativity and expertise to the classroom. You’ll design flexible, student‑centred programmes, tailor lessons to individual needs, and support pupils to achieve meaningful outcomes.

• Deliver engaging lessons across your subject areas.
• Plan, assess, and review teaching sessions in line with curriculum developments.
• Write, implement, and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
• Set achievable targets and motivate pupils to reach them.
• Support social, emotional, and behavioural development.
• Build strong, positive relationships with pupils to promote participation and confidence.

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) / PGCE
• Experience teaching at secondary level with lessons rated good or outstanding
• Knowledge of current curriculum frameworks and SEN provision
• Experience in specialist or SEN settings, supporting students with SEMH/EBD or complex needs
• Creativity, patience, and a proactive approach to problem‑solving
