Staff Accountant

About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and analytical Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis. This role supports core accounting functions, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate is detail‑driven, comfortable working with large datasets, and capable of navigating a fast‑paced, deadline‑oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

+ Prepare and post accurate journal entries for monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close.

+ Perform account reconciliations, ensuring completeness and accuracy.

+ Support the preparation of financial statements and internal management reports.

+ Analyze variances and assist with resolving discrepancies across accounts.

+ Maintain general ledger integrity through ongoing review and documentation.

+ Assist with audit requests by preparing schedules and gathering supporting documentation.

+ Collaborate with finance and cross‑functional teams to support accounting operations.

+ Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency and internal controls.

Requirements

Qualifications

+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

+ Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.

+ Proficiency with ERP systems

+ Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas).

+ Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.

+ Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

+ Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.

Preferred Experience

+ Experience in public accounting or working with audits.

+ Familiarity with large, matrixed organizations.

+ Exposure to financial analysis or budgeting.
