Overview
This position operates welding equipment requiring comprehensive knowledge of wirefeed and Heliarc welding and is responsible for fabrication and first run prototypes.
Duties And Responsibilities- Sets up and operates welding equipment in production areas and troubleshoots projects as appropriate.
- Works closely with Engineering and the Model Shop on projects that require prototype welding and makes recommendations on product design.
- Fabricates all types of shelving, carts, etc. used in the facility, works with tooling to develop fixtures, and programs and troubleshoots robotic welding equipment.
- Trains less experienced welders.
- Routs parts using material handling equipment, follows written and verbal instructions, inspects assigned work, and makes recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Follows safety guidelines, maintains quality and productivity standards, and maintains an acceptable dependability level.
- Generally requires at least 2-3 years of relevant welding experience with exposure to
- Heliarc and wire feed welding.
- Ability to interpret blueprints and to effectively use parts handling equipment.
- Ability to effectively inspect assigned work and the work of others, which may include micrometers, gauges or special equipment as required.
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English with a demonstrated ability to follow written and oral instructions, and troubleshoot problems when necessary.
- Previous basic machining experience preferred.
Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise maneuver up to 35 pounds with or without assistance on a routine basis. Must have manual hand dexterity to grasp, operate tools and equipment repetitively. Able to walk, stand, sit, bend, reach, and occasionally kneel, climb steps, and twist throughout an entire shift. Some areas may be exposed to chemicals, noise, vibration and /or dust, and require the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE);
such as, but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, foot protection, etc.
