Staff Counselor

George Fox University's Health and Counseling department is looking for a passionate, detail oriented individual to join their team as a Staff Counselor who is needing to complete their predoctoral supervised clinical experience.

The staff counselor positions consist of supervised professional psychological activities focused on individual psychotherapy with undergraduate and graduate students, crisis assessments, and psychological assessments.

• Conducting individual, couples and group psychotherapy
• Performing psychological assessments
• Crisis intervention and emergency services
• Administrative duties such as completing all paperwork, including notes and reports, in a timely fashion
• Attending a scheduled supervision for one hour per week
• Attending any staff meetings as applicable
• Participating in regular didactics training
• Consultation and outreach to the University community:
  • Staff counselors may participate in the planning and delivery of psycho-educational workshops for students, faculty, staff, and parents
• Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service
• By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role
• Demonstrated experience working cross culturally with respect, appreciation and humility
• Other duties as assigned

• Currently enrolled (and in good standing) in an advanced degree in psychology, counseling or clinical social work
• The energy to flexibly manage the professional demands of a challenging caseload while maintaining positive and healthy perspectives and relationships
• A self-motivated, self-directed commitment to high professional ideals
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• A collaborative spirit of warmth, acceptance, respect, and trust towards colleagues and students
• An ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing, including on telephone, and to understand and follow instructions
• Computer proficiency
• Legal authorization to work in the United States. This position does not offer visa sponsorship; therefore, only applicants who do not require sponsorship for employment visas, now or at any point in the future, should apply

• Experience in crisis evaluations and management
• Demonstrated interest in and commitment to university counseling center work and college student development
• An appreciation for and experience with working with a diverse student population
