Position Purpose amazonThis driver role is responsible for driving a straight truck or van intrastate and/or interstate on local routes to deliver and unload various food and food‑related products to customers. The role generally handles deliveries of urgent orders due to mispicks and other customer‑service related issues. All routes must be completed safely in accordance with all Company policies and Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).
The driver communicates and interacts with customers, vendors, and coworkers professionally, ensuring all services and duties are executed in accordance with preferred work methods and customer‑service practices.
- Perform all required safety checks (pre/post‑trip) including inspections of truck/van and trailer per DOT regulations; report any issues or needed repairs.
- Follow DOT regulations, company safe‑driving guidelines, and policies; immediately report safety hazards.
- Inspect load for proper securing; perform a count check and verify invoices; complete all required paperwork accurately and legibly.
- Deliver customer orders according to the assigned schedule.
- Unload products, move them into customer storage areas, perform damage checks, scan items, and coordinate removal of orders per company policy. Verify delivery massa obtaining signs and, if required, collect cash or checks. Load returns onto the trailer and secure doors.
- Ensure the truck, van, and freight are locked and secured at all times.
- Unload damaged goods and returns, then complete necessary paperwork. Remove all equipment, materials, and trash from trailers as required. Record hours of service daily, entering the log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
- Maintain housekeeping duties in the tractor, loading dock area, and keep trailers clear and clean. inserts shift end; secure all equipment and complete required paperwork.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- 6+ months of box truck driving experience.
- Valid non‑commercial driver’s license; meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements.
- Minimum age 21 years.
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
- Pass DOT pre‑employment drug test and physical.
- Pass road test.
- Pass post‑offer drug test and criminal background check.
- Able to hand‑lift and utilize a lift gate or other equipment to move and stack product cases weighing approximately 60–90 pounds throughout the shift.
