The Journeyman performs skilled maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems while interpreting blueprints, operating trade tools, and supporting safe, efficient plant operations.

• Perform troubleshooting and repair on production equipment (i.e., electrical, mechanical, hydraulics, etc.).
• Perform new construction and repairs as needed (i.e., carpentry, electrical, pipe fitting, plumbing, etc.).
• Perform layout and design work as required.
• Identify equipment and parts by name and number.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, sketches, and blueprints as required.
• Operate required tools and equipment (i.e., welder, hand tools, drill press, oxy‑acetylene welding and cutting, etc.).
• Operate material handling equipment (i.e., carts, lifting devices, forklift, etc.).
• Stay current on trade practices.
• Accept emergency repair call as needed.
• Process and maintain records as needed.
• Perform work of an equal or lower classification as needed.
• Keep supervisor informed of material, process and equipment needs and problems.
• Insure part and tools are counted and properly marked in their appropriate storage area.
• Notify appropriate personnel of the need to order parts and equipment.
• Perform work in a safe and orderly manner.
• Keep equipment, and work area clean and orderly.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Physical demands:
Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
