Lead Locate Technician
Job Description:
The Lead Technician is responsible for leading a group of assigned employees within their team, while maintaining and protecting their area of coverage and following company policies and safety regulations. Lead Locate Technician is responsible for accurately locating underground facilities including, but not limited to, telephone communication lines, electric power lines, cable television lines, gas lines, fiber optic lines, water lines, and sewer lines and assisting with leading the team to accomplish the same goal.
This position is a key component to ensure that the area is complying with client and state requirements. Service duties include observing, locating, marking, and documenting underground and exposed utility locations. Understanding of doing so, using multiple methods is required. Locating technicians will be dispatched to locate and verify for utility customers.

Responsibilities- Oversee daily scheduling of contractors and sub-contractors
- Route tickets to ensure optimized efficiency
- Develop a daily plan to achieve production targets and provide help as needed
- Review prior days documents and reports
- Review daily expectations and safety messages and adjust as needed
- Audit documents and ensure they comply with client regulations
- Establish client quality assurance and resolve problems as needed
- Ensure all team members timesheets are correct and team members are accounted for
- Locate underground facilities by using a transmitter and connecting to buried facilities or pedestals
- Work in diverse terrains and weather conditions in construction, residential, commercial, industrial, and rural areas
- Interpret job order tickets, blueprints and maps to efficiently route and perform duties
- Perform locates and on-call locates during regular, overtime and holiday hours as necessary
- Communicate professionally with customers, co-workers and third parties to maintain a damage-free environment
- Knowledge of technology and tools needed for locating work
- Collaborate effectively in a supervised team environment
- High School Diploma or equivalency (GED)
- Multiple years of utility locating experience
- Demonstrated quality in locating work
- Knowledge and experience using multiple types of utility locating equipment
- Problem-solving abilities
- Ability to read, interpret, and decipher multiple types of prints
- Ability to lift over 50 lbs
- Ability to walk/stand for multiple hours a day
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret prints at a high level
- Pass a Background screening (no violations within the last 3 years)
- Pass a DOT drug test
