Job Responsibilities
Administers the non-judicial operations of the Court, including direct supervision of administrative support staff.
Develops and prepares annual budgets. Submits bi-weekly payroll for staff.
Works with the Assistant Court Administrator to coordinate operations of the Court with other courts, county departments, and community service partners.
Develops long-range goals and objectives to improve Court operations.
Works with the Assistant Court Administrator in determining and identifying needs and Court procedures to increase the effectiveness of the Court.
Reports findings and makes recommendations to the Administrative Judge and Assistant Court Administrator.
Recruits, trains and supervises non-judicial Court personnel.
Administers personnel policies and procedures as applicable to non-judicial employees.
Serves as liaison between Administrative Judge, Assistant Court Administrator, local government offices, and the public.
Assigns specific work tasks to non-judicial staff members to maintain the efficient operation of the Court on a daily basis.
Maintains databases and prepares required orders regarding the appointment of interpreter services and visiting judges.
Assists in administering aspects of the Court’s technology as it relates to, and affects, Court operations.
Conducts annual performance appraisals of the Administrative Assistants, Clerical Assistants, and Receptionist.
Manages and directs the Court’s regular and usual expenditures for Court operations and staff training.
Other Duties and ResponsibilitiesAny other duties as assigned by the Administrative Judge or his designee in order to maintain the standards and integrity of the Court.

Job Prerequisites Knowledge, Ability and SkillsKnowledge of:
- Budgeting requirements
- Facets of Domestic Relations law
- Applicable procedures and practices of the Domestic Relations Court, including the Local Rules of Practice
- The Court’s personnel policies
- Federal and state employment law
- Basic computer and office equipment skills
Ability to:
Communicate with attorneys, the general public, Court employees and Court officials in an effective and courteous manner; work under pressure and maintain composure in dealing with potentially irate and hostile individuals; exhibit patience in working with the public and legal professionals; maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive matters; accept constructive criticism and direction; be professional at all times and work cooperatively with members of staff, other departments, agencies and providers;
maintain regular attendance, proper dress, and a positive attitude; treat all individuals with respect and dignity; and work independently.
Skill in: Communicating with staff and others, both orally and in written form; operating basic office machines and Windows-based operating system; and completing tasks timely and free from excessive and/or recurring mistakes.
Minimum QualificationsA minimum of a four-year degree from an accredited college or university in the fields of business, public administration, or accounting OR a minimum of five years in private or public employment in positions requiring the planning and execution of administrative operations, budgeting and control of revenue and expenditures and/or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
An ability to read, analyze, and interpret periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, public officials, and the general public.
Requires an understanding of Court administration, automated record keeping systems and other new technologies. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
