Akkodis is seeking a COBOL and Advanced SQL - Developer for a Contract with a client in Newark, NJ. This position involves developing and maintaining core applications using COBOL and SQL.
Rate Range: $56/hour to $68/hour;
The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
- Develop, enhance, and maintain COBOL programs to support core business applications and backend processing.
- Write, optimize, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and data workflows across enterprise systems.
- Support system integrations and enhancements using secondary .NET skills where required.
- Debug, analyze, and resolve issues within COBOL and SQL‑based components to ensure stable and efficient system performance.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support application updates, modernization efforts, and production fixes.
- Perform code reviews, follow development standards, and ensure compliance with established quality and documentation practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
- 10+ years of hands‑on experience in COBOL development and advanced SQL programming.
- Strong proficiency in COBOL for large‑scale enterprise applications and complex batch/transactional systems.
- Ability to support secondary .NET components and work across legacy and modern application environments.

Pay Details: $56.00 to $68.00 per hour
