Job Description

Duties

  • Observe and report suspicious activity and behavior to the Port Authority Police.
  • Protect the areas to which you are assigned.
  • Enforce rules and regulations in the Airport Security Agent Manual and related bulletins.
  • Familiarize yourself with all post orders.
  • Maintain an operationally efficient post and assist people who require help while not compromising security services.
  • Supervise and ensure compliance with Port Authority and federal rules regarding personnel and vehicle identification.
  • Conduct vehicle inspections as required.
  • Immediately report to PAPD if any unauthorized individuals attempt to access the facility without authorization or if physical altercations occur, or when any fires are detected.
  • Direct traffic at post as required.
  • Provide construction escort services as required.
  • Conduct periodic inspections of contractor work areas for compliance with security procedures.
  • Report unclaimed or unattended property to PAPD.
  • Make full reports to supervisors of all unusual circumstances.
  • Continually perform normal and additional assigned job duties during emergencies as directed by the Manager.
  • Screen and/or log persons or vehicles seeking access to restricted areas.
  • Report hazardous conditions (e.g., ice, snow, holes in fences, defective lighting) to appropriate personnel.
  • Perform airport perimeter fence inspections as required.
  • Respond to and investigate door alarms, resolve conditions, and report to the Security Operations Center within the specified time.
  • Assist in rendering aid to persons in public areas until medical assistance arrives.
