Position Summary:
The Fluid Locomotion Laboratory at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, led by Prof. Brooke Flammang, invites applications fora postdoctoral research associate position in the field of underwaterattachment mechanics and bioinspired design. Review of applications will begin Feb 15. Position will begin as soon as August
2025.

Essential Functions:
The position will involve aiding in the development and testing of physical models of underwater attachment mechanisms, building uponthe research group's efforts in biologically inspired attachment ().

Prerequisite

Qualifications:

- A PhD in Biology, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, or a related area with experience in comparative biomechanics,robotics, and/or fluid dynamics is required.
- A very strong quantitative background, includingstatistics and computer programming.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills,shown by a strong publication record and presentations at conferences.
- Excellent organizational, project management, data analysis and data management skills.
- A strong interest in conducting interdisciplinarywork as part of a collaborative team.
- A strong interest in mentoring undergraduate and graduate students and broadening participation in STEM.
- At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate tothe satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.

Salary Information:
In compliance with the NJ Pay Transparency Law, the negotiated starting annual salary range for this position is $62,232.00 (USD). NJIT considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses or other items.

Special Instructions to Applicants:
The appointment is for one year initially, renewablebased on satisfactory performance and available funding. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience, and benefits are included.
