"Our Children's Hospital of New Jersey (CHoNJ) serves pediatric patients exclusively. We understand that children have unique needs when it comes to medical care, requiring more than just clinical intervention. Our patients receive treatment in a calming and compassionate atmosphere in nearly 30 pediatric subspecialties including a full-service Children's Heart Center pediatric cardiac surgery program. Experienced surgical and medical specialists include a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, a Pediatric Emergency Department, and the only Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in New Jersey with an ECMO unit to assist infants in severe respiratory distress.
Children's Hospital also offers a Valerie Fund Children's Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders and a specialized pediatric anesthesia and sedation program for children undergoing surgical procedures."

Qualifications:
Required:
* BSN
* Strong communication and organizational skills
* Proficient computer skills
* Minimum 2 years of recent/current hospital experience in PICU
Preferred:
* Charge Nurse/Leadership experience
* Peds Cardiac Care
Certifications and Licenses
Required:
* Active NJ RN license or compact RN license with NJ endorsement
* BLS from the American Heart Association
* PALS Certification
Scheduling Requirements:
* Night Shift, 36 hours
* Full Time
* Monday - Friday, every other weekend and holiday rotation
Essential Functions:
* Assists Nursing Director with ensuring that quality nursing care is delivered to all patients and his/her nursing units in accordance with the philosophy, policies, procedures and program plans of the hospital
* Assists with the development of patient care standards, orientation and continuing education
* Provides input into evaluation of staff performance in accordance with organization policies
* Participates in nursing Quality Improvement
* Assists with unit administration, including scheduling, payroll and maintenance of supplies and equipment
* Maintains and role models clinical skills necessary to provide care to patients
* Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient's age specific needs and provide age specific treatment and care
* Ensure that [unit/department/division] is in compliance with all applicable policies, laws and regulations

Other Duties
* Directs patient care in a manner that promotes the highest standards of care
* Evaluates the quality of nursing care delivered by nursing staff by reviewing plans for care and teaching protocols, assessing patient and interviewing
* Identifies problems and/or areas requiring improvements
* Ensures patient satisfaction as evidenced by Press Ganey scores in response to patient questionnaires
* Resolve problems involving staff, patients, families, physicians and other hospital departments
* Communicates effectively and seeks direction in a timely and appropriate manner
* Serves on inter and intradepartmental committees and special task forces;
In collaboration with Nursing Director, ensures that state, JCAHO and federal requirements are completed and documented in an appropriate and timely manner
* In collaboration with Nursing Director develops unit goals in accordance with departmental goals and plans change to improve patient care
* Effectively manage the day to day operations of the unit
* Assists with unit staff schedules; on a daily basis, identifies the number and level of personnel required to provide patient care based on patient needs and individual needs and individual skill levels, and adjusts staffing and assignments appropriately
* Assesses the physical environment of the unit for cleanliness and safety hazards, and responds appropriately to effect a safe, therapeutic environment for patients, personnel and the public; evaluates equipment and supplies, and monitors for quality and effectiveness
* Reviews work in progress to ensure that treatments, medications, tests and procedures will be completed in a timely manner
