Responsibilities

The primary purpose of the Staff Nurse position is to be accountable for the care activities, safety and goal achievements of assigned patients through assessing, diagnosing, planning and intervening in actual or potential health problems and evaluating patient’s response to the care. These responsibilities also include patient education and discharge planning. The Registered Professional Nurse places emphasis on mobilizing patients and preventing skin breakdown, falls and implements the appropriate measures to achieve this.

The Registered Professional Nurse is a member of a designated care team and collaborates, coordinates and guides team members in planning patient care in a safe environment and achieving patient care goals according to the patient/family developmental stage and cultural expectations.

  • Assesses, diagnoses, plans, intervenes in actual or potential health problems, and evaluates patient responses to care.
  • Provides patient education and discharge planning.
  • Mobilizes patients and works to prevent skin breakdown and falls; implements appropriate preventive measures.
  • Collaborates with a designated care team, guiding and coordinating care to achieve patient goals in a safe environment and aligned with patient/family developmental stage and cultural expectations.
Qualifications

Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey or eligible for New Jersey license. Employment will be contingent upon receiving New Jersey licensure. Adult Medical/Surgical experience preferred. BSN preferred. Ability to employ problem solving techniques and critical thinking. Effective interpersonal skills. Ability to lift and move patients with/without reasonable accommodations. Ability to organize care/activities of multiple patients. Successful completion of a Med/Surg Course or CCRN Certification preferred.

Phlebotomy Certification or IV Certification must be obtained prior to completion of unit based orientation. Proficiency in the English language is required. Must maintain valid certification by the American Heart Association in basic life support (BLS).

  • Licensed as an RN in NJ or eligible for licensure; licensure required for employment.
  • Adult Medical/Surgical experience preferred; BSN preferred.
  • Problem solving, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift/move patients with/without accommodations; ability to organize care for multiple patients.
  • Med/Surg course or CCRN certification preferred;
    Phlebotomy or IV certification required before unit-based orientation.
  • English proficiency and BLS certification required.
